The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Application window is now open and closes 1 Dec 2022.
SMART offers scholarships for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students currently pursuing a degree in one of the 21 STEM disciplines. SMART scholars receive full tuition, annual stipends, internships, and guaranteed employment with the DoD after graduation.

Oklahoma's Promise is a tuition waiver to attend an Oklahoma college or university. To apply, a student must:
Be a resident of Oklahoma
Apply during 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade
Student's parents' federal adjusted gross income does not exceed: $60,000 with 1 or 2 dependent children OR $70,000 with 3 or 4 dependent children OR $80,000 with 5 or more dependent children

This is why it is critically important to be financially responsible when selecting your college and applying for all scholarships that you can. You can see Mr. Moses for information on ways to reduce your overall college cost: (ie concurrent enrollment, going to a two year school for basic coursework, or does your career field even require a degree(maybe look at technology center for certifications in your career field).

Seniors planning to go to college: Here are the things you need to be working on right now!
1) Continue to take ACT and work on raising score
2) Request letters of recommendation--( you can pick up questionnaire from counselors office that you can give out that
will help people write your letter) YOu will need these for admissions applications and scholarship applications
3) Build resume of activities, awards and honors, community service hours-this will help you complete applications for
admissions and scholarships.
2) Apply to colleges you are interested in
a) even if you are being recruited and haven't decided yet apply to all recruiting you
b) most of scholarship money you receive will be from college you plan to attend. You are not eligible for their
scholarships if you have not been accepted for admissions.
3) visit colleges(in person or virtually)
4) applying for third party scholarships
5) Completing FAFSA at studentaid.gov(Application for your grad year opens OCT 1) you can start gathering the items
needed for this application--parents tax forms, your social security number)

The Eastern Oklahoma County College Fair is being held at Rose State College on October 3. Jones High School time slot is 11:00 am to noon. I am taking college prep class to this fair in bus. Any senior that would like to go to this college fair can sign up in the counselors office. I will take you over in school bus. This college fair is using strive scan for you to share information with college admissions reps. It will save you from standing at their table filling out information card. You create a strive scan account and it will generate a bar code that admission reps will scan to collect your information. Instructions for creating a strive scan account can be picked up in counselors office.

Bus riders will be excused from am class at EOC. Drivers will be excused at EOC to be late to attend meetings at JHS.
