Congratulations to JHS Junior, Taylor Shaw. Taylor has been selected as a Miss Oklahoma Teen Finalist. It’s A Great Day To Be A Longhorn! She is currently preparing for her pageant and is looking for sponsors. Below is some information from Taylor about her selection.
The Miss Oklahoma Teen Pageant is organized by National American Miss. They send letters to chosen participants to invite them to an open call interview, which is where they will determine whether or not you are in the pageant. They select their participants by reviewing Honor Society referrals and/or you had participated in a past pageant. National American Miss Pageants are based on teaching girls to have positive self-images by enhancing their beauty within. The pageant isn’t focused solely on the girls outer beauty but on helping girls grow and expand their ideas on who they truly are.
When I first received the open call letter, I was very excited. The pageant would not only open many doors for me in the future, but would also allow me to create many friends and memories along my journey. I went to the open call interview and was then asked three questions about myself and what I planned on doing in the future after I graduate high school. The following day I got an email stating that I had been chosen to be a Miss Oklahoma Teen Finalist. After finding out I was in the pageant, I immediately called close family to tell them the exciting news. In the small amount time of finding out that I was a State Finalist, I have gained much support from family and friends.
In the email, it provided a step by step guide of what was next to come. I am currently searching for potential sponsors, to help support me as I get ready for the pageant. The sponsors would help support me with sponsorship fees, production number outfits, audience tickets for the pageant, and so much more. I then attend a pageant prep training session, which will prepare me for the pageant, which is on July 5th through 7th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Miss Oklahoma Teen Pageant is an opportunity of a lifetime and I am so thankful to be a part of it. In addition to the crowning of the next Miss Oklahoma Teen, scholarships, cash prizes, awards, and trophies are given to all participants. Girls who participate in the pageant will also gain self-confidence, communication skills, and a valuable experience as they interview and appear on stage in front of others.
