JHS Seniors Each year the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of higher education in diverse areas of study including history, economics, law, political science, medicine, nursing, occupational and physical therapy, elementary and secondary education, chemistry, math, science and English. DAR’s scholarships are awarded and judged without regard to gender, race, color, religion, national origin, or disability. Applicants must be citizens of the United States. Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States. All multi-year scholarships, typically renewable up to four years, must be for consecutive years of attendance. Awards are based on academic excellence, commitment to the field of study, and/or financial need, or other restrictions on specific scholarships. Awards are placed on deposit with the recipient’s college or university and any unused portion shall be returned to the DAR. Applicants are only eligible to receive one scholarship from the DAR. The DAR Scholarship Committee Now Has an Online Submission Process DAR is pleased to announce all students applying for scholarships offered by the DAR Scholarship Committee will submit their applications using the online application portal below. Emailed or mailed applications will no longer be accepted, unless applying for the Margaret Howard Hamilton Scholarship. To Apply For DAR Scholarships . . . American Indian Services Scholarship American Indian Services (AIS) is a non-profit charitable organization that provides undergraduate Native American students with financial support to attend college, maintain enrollment and graduate through scholarships. Awards are based on up to one-half of tuition and need for the term the student is applying for. JHS STUDENTS HOW IT WORKS The George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest is open to students grades 1 through 12 (including home-schooled children). Entries are sorted into one of four categories, based on school grade: Category I: Grades 1-3 Category II: Grades 4-6 Category III: Grades 7-9 Category IV: Grades 10-12 Entries must be signed by the artist and portray any North American game bird or animal that may be legally hunted or trapped. Endangered species and non-game animals, such as eagles and snakes, are not eligible subjects. To confirm whether a certain animal or bird is eligible, see this list of North American game animals and birds. First, second and third place winners will be selected for each category and will be awarded $750, $500, $250 respectively. One entry will be selected to receive the Best In Show award and a $1,000 prize. Judges may also choose for a non-winning entry to receive an Honorable Mention award. All winning entries will be published on the NRABlog and in NRA Family. Submissions for all artwork will be in digital form only. Preferred specs for submissions will be a minimum of 8½"x11" with 300 DPI or higher resolution. Please include the entry form with your email to artcontest@nrahq.org. All submissions must be original artwork and will be subject to an originality verification process. Submissions determined to have been traced or copied from a published photograph without copyright permission from the photographer, or from another artist’s work, shall be disqualified. JHS Seniors: See information below about Langston's upcoming High School Day: We are incredibly excited to announce that our LU Daze - High School Day 2021-2022 is scheduled for Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. As you may know, High School Day is the most significant event that we host for prospective first-year students from across the State of Oklahoma and surrounding states. Since this event will be in-person this year, we anticipate having a great turnout. This year we will be hosting a two-part event that will consist of an HBCU Experience and Breakout Sessions.
