Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation Scholarship The Gordon A. Rich Memorial Foundation was created to honor the memory of Gordon Rich. He was an extraordinary athlete, an accomplished pianist, master chef and a loving father and husband. The Foundation awards grants to support the higher education goals of its recipients. Jackie Robinson Scholarship Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need. Eligible students must be citizens of the United Sate and have a minimum SAT score of 1,000 combined on the math and critical reading sections or a composite ACT score of 21. Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship Animal welfare is the staple of P.L.A.Y (Pet Lifestyle and You). They know that plenty of young minds are equally passionate about helping animals in need. Graduating high school seniors who exemplify core animal welfare beliefs are eligible for this scholarship. Annual DNA Day Essay Contest The American Society of Human Genetics celebrates National DNA Day, which commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003 and the discovery of the double helix of DNA in 1953. The Annual DNA Day Essay Contest is open to students in grades 9 through 12 worldwide. Applicants are asked to submit an essay answering the following prompt: Ancestry testing is a form of direct-to-consumer genetic testing designed to inform customers about their genetic ancestry. There are generally three types of ancestry testing: Y chromosome testing, mitochondrial DNA testing, and autosomal DNA testing. If a person did all three ancestry tests, what types of information could they learn about their genetic ancestry and how does this genetic ancestry information compare and contrast with their cultural heritage (family traditions, etc.)? Microsoft disAbility Scholarship Microsoft’s disAbility employee resource group represents employees with conditions such as hearing loss, blindness, mobility disabilities and dyslexia. They collaborate with product teams to design, develop and build accessible, inclusive products. They also seek to empower and enable high school seniors with disabilities, assisting them in targeting a career in the technology industry. The scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years. Foster Care to Success Scholarship Foster Care to Success is a college fund for foster youth that provides annual scholarships to support students seeking additional education. National Air Transportation Association Richard L. Taylor Flight Scholarship Richard Taylor was a 22-year member of the Aviation Department at Ohio State University. For 7 of those years, he held the position of Director of Flight Operations and Education. Professor Taylor was also an award-winning author who helped foster opportunities for aviation students as they pursuedheir careers as professional pilots. His influence continues to extend to future pilots through the Richard L. Taylor Flight Training Scholarship. To qualify, students must be a senior in high school and be enrolled to attend a flight program through an accredited college or university. Applicants must also have a private pilot’s license. One Little PersonScholarship The One Little Person Scholarship is intended to highlight the importance of one individual on the life of a student. Society of Exploration Geophysicists Scholarship SEG encourages the study of geophysics and related geosciences through the generosity of donors such as Anadarka, Chevron and Equinor.
