Due to potential severe weather tomorrow Jones Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, May 20.
The possibility of severe weather during school hours will undoubtedly create some anxiety. Please remember that every student at Jones is within a few minutes of a safe room while at school. However, if you feel your family will be safer at home, we will support your decision. If you decide to keep you child at home, please call the main office to report the absence, so it can be excused. Tomorrow’s absences will not count against perfect attendance or absences limitations.

JES Playday has been rescheduled for Wednesday. Aloha Day & 5th grade Aloha Party will be Thursday, along with the scheduled Awards Assembly.
JES students may bring $1.00 and wear a HAT at school all day tomorrow (May 9th)! All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life.
JES Parents:
Use the emailed form, or printed copy sent home Monday in your child’s backpack to order an Aloha Autograph T-shirt.
Students may wear them on May 22nd. Fifth graders will get a shirt free of charge.
They are white and cost $10.
Orders due Monday, May 6th.

On Friday, April 26th, Jones Elementary will celebrate Earth Day. During the month of April students are encouraged to save their aluminum cans and bring them bagged to school on April 26th!
We will have a truck at the elementary in the morning to collect the cans. We are asking you to label the bag with HOW MANY CANS and your child’s TEACHER’S NAME. Fifth graders will tally the totals, and the class with the most cans win a PIZZA PARTY!
Also, on April 26th we will fly kites in celebration of Earth Day. Your child may bring a kite to school that day, and during their Specials time they will fly kites. Kites should be already assembled, and the cheaper kites work really well. It’s also fun to have a few friends share a kite. We look forward to a fun day celebrating Earth Day!

The Homecoming Parade is today at 2:00pm at the Elementary. Students will be dismissed at the regular time (3:20pm). Buses may reach their stops earlier than usual due to less MS and HS students on board.
REMINDER….Pre-K, KG, 1st and 2nd grade students will be singing at OLD TIMER’S DAY on Main Street across from the Jones Drug Store this Sat., Oct. 6th. The Pre-K should begin at approx. 11:30am and the other classes will follow. Specific times are not available, so please have your students behind the stage at 11:15am dressed in green/white (school colors), if possible.
The students WILL NOT sing if it is raining at 11:30am!
