Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Educational Advancement Foundation Scholarship The mission of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation is to promote lifelong learning. This is accomplished by securing charitable contributions, gifts and endowed funds to awards scholarships, fellowships and grants. Featured this month is the AKA Educational Advancement Scholarship. Requirements include: • Be a full-time college sophomore or beyond • Be currently enrolled in an accredited degree-granting institution • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 ("B" average) • Demonstrate community service and involvement. B) Write an essay (1,500 word maximum) describing the impact of Alzheimer's disease or another dementia- related illness on themselves, their families, or their communities. Congratulations to Jazlyn Ross for passing the audition process and being chosen for the SWACDA Regional Honor Choir. Jazlyn competed with hundreds of other students from seven midwestern states (Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Colorado, Missouri and Arkansas) to earn the honor of being a member of the 2022 Treble 8-10 Grade Honor Choir. The music includes texts in Latin (“O aula nobilis”, “Ave regina carlorum” and “Non nobis, Domine”), German (“Er ist gekommen”) and English (“Imagination” and “I Need You to Survive”). She attended the 2022 SWACDA Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, Feb. 28-March 4, which ended in a Mass Graded Honor Choir Concert, including all four graded honor choirs.
