JHS SENIORS SEE INFORMATION REGARDING LOOMING SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE:
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has two scholarships with deadlines of Monday, December 6. The Community Foundation Scholars is a $3000 scholarship and The Jones High School Scholarship is a 2000. One CFS is awarded to a qualified JHS applicant and two(2) JHS scholarships are awarded to qualified JHS applicants.
Right now according to the community foundation we have a very small number of applicants.

Click on apply then sign up and complete general application and then complete supplemental application for both of these scholarships. Student will need to write essays for these awards, provide resume, letter of recommendation, and transcript.

Once you have completed general application and supplemental application for these two awards, you can complete supplemental application for any of their other scholarships including the OGE scholarship which is a 15000.00 award.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has over a 150 scholarships and JHS seniors are eligible to apply for most because we are a member of the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network(COGN).

JHS SENIORS who are dependents of military Members:
Last year the Tinker Spouses’ Club awarded over $15,000 in scholarships to high school seniors who were dependents of U.S. Military members at Tinker Air Force Base and were attending a college or a vocational/technical school in the Fall of 2021. Scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are now available.

Friends of Kim Jones Shelton Scholarship
Eligibility:
· A graduating senior of a central Oklahoma high school with a GPA ≥ 3.5.
· Must have financial need relating to a disability or challenging circumstance of the applicant or the applicant’s parent.
· Preference is given to black female students.
Funds may be used for educational related expenses such as tuition, fees, and books at any academically accredited two- year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in the United States. Payments are made directly to the school.
The Friends of Kim Jones-Shelton scholarship was established by friends and family in 1999 to honor Kim’s service to the community.
Award: $1,500
Deadline: 03/01/2022
After completing the General Application/Student Profile, applicants must submit the Supplemental Questions (below) to complete the application:
1. The Friends of Kim Jones-Shelton Scholarship fund was established to honor a woman who was very influential in the lives of her friends and family. Please write a reflection paper about friendship. (Please limit to 500 words.)
2. The scholarship selection committee may exercise a preference for an applicant who has demonstrated resilience in coping with a disability. If you have a disability, please describe how the disability has impacted your achievements. Please provide documentation of your disability.
3. The scholarship selection committee may exercise a preference for an applicant who was reared in a single parent home. If you have been reared in a single parent household, please describe how this experience has impacted your achievements.
4. Did you submit your household's 1040 or your FAFSA for the coming year when you completed the General Application? JHS Juniors that will be first generation college students: See this great scholarship opportunity from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation
New Opportunities Scholars
Eligibility:
A junior attending a high school participating in the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network.
Be the first in their family to attend college. For the purpose of this scholarship program, the definition of “first in the family” is that applicant or applicant’s parents, stepparents or grandparents have not attended college.
Unweighted GPA no greater than 3.79.
The Process: If you are recommended by the Scholarship Selection Committee of your high school, you and your parent/guardian agree that you will complete a series of college preparatory activities including:
Work during the summer/fall OR complete community service hours with an approved community based organization between your junior and senior year.
Participating in a college campus visit accompanied by your parent.
Financial Aid and an ACT workshop.
Various assigned activities.
By January 15th of your senior year, your high school guidance counselor must provide certification of these activities to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. If all of the required activities have been completed, you will receive the documents necessary to claim a one-year scholarship of $3,000. Funds may be used for tuition, fees and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational/technical nonprofit institution in the United States. Payments are made directly to the school.
