
Had the privilege of taking some great JHS Seniors to the Eastern Oklahoma County College Fair at Rose State College. They got some great information and asked some great questions.

JHS Seniors: Jones High School is a member of the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. This makes JHS Seniors eligible for many of their Scholarships and a JHS Senior is guaranteed to receive a CFS Scholar scholarship from OCCF. This is a $3000 scholarship. The OCCF Scholarship Portal opens up tomorrow, Oct 1. Get on and create your account and apply for all their scholarships that you are eligible.
The process can be confusing. You will create your account, complete general application and then complete supplemental application for every scholarship with them that you want to apply. If you have questions, see Mr. Moses

JHS Seniors the FAFSA opens up Saturday OCT 1. If you are planning to go to college or a career tech center upon graduation you need to complete FAFSA. If you need assistance we have a college Professional scheduled to be in college prep on OCT 10 to help with FAFSA. If you would like to attend this session, please sign up in the counselor office. If you do not need assistance get on complete and submit FAFSA as soon as it opens.

FAFSA PRESENTATION: We will have a College Professional in College Prep on Monday Oct. 10 to go over how to complete FAFSA and how to create your pin to sign FAFSA. Any senior not in college Prep that would like to attend can sign up with MR. Moses in the counseling office. If you want to attend, sign up as soon as possible so we can determine if we need to move the presentation to a larger location.

JHS Seniors planning to go to college in Fall of 2023: Please make sure you are completing and submitting your applications for admissions. Many schools have priority scholarship deadlines in November and December. You can send your transcript via parchment by creating your learner account at

Students Planning on going to college for Teaching degree. The State Regents of Higher Education has a new scholarship that is only two months old. The value of this scholarship is up to 25500.00 and can be stacked with other scholarships, the TEACH grant, OK promise, etc. This a great opportunity to get your degree at minimal cost. Students interested becoming a teacher: UCO is hosting a Prospective Teacher Academy. This is a great opportunity to gain more information on the profession as well as the process of becoming a teacher and pitfalls to avoid. See flyer for more information and to register.

JHS students interested in UCO and those that are unsure: UCO has numerous nationally ranked degree programs including Forensic Sciences, Mortuary Sciences, Education, Business, Fine Arts, Etc. The have small class sizes and are very affordable. Check out information attached and their website for more information and to APPLY. Their priority scholarship deadline is February 1.
