My name is Sierra Cydrus and I am the Head Women's Coach for the RIVERSPORT OKC Juniors Rowing Program. The Women's and Men's Junior teams at RIVERSPORT are club programs comprised of athletes in grades 9-12 that are either home schooled or attend high school in Oklahoma City or surrounding cities (i.e. Edmond, Norman, Moore, etc.). We are looking for high school athletes to join our team!
Rowing is a unique sport where no experience is needed to start and it's never too late to try it out. Each year our novice teams, rowers in their first year, are made up of transfer athletes from others sports and individuals who have never played a sport before! We are looking to recruit students that are interested in joining a team and trying something new.
Aside from the community built and the physical benefit that rowing offers, it is also a great opportunity to connect students to universities. Each year, over 50% of our graduating seniors get recruited to row in college. Often, our athletes earn partial or full ride scholarships from rowing. Attached is a PDF with recruitment data from the last 4 years. Outside of the past 4 years, we've additionally had athletes recruited to Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, and the Naval Academy.
