JHS SENIORS: The Oklahoma City Community Foundation is announcing the Orner-Cook Scholarship!
Applications must be submitted by February 15, 2020. This is an excellent opportunity for students from an Oklahoma High School. Detailed information about the scholarship is below. Students may receive detailed instructions about our online application process by going to the scholarship page on our website at http://www.occf.org/scholarships.
Please know that applicants must complete a General Application before applying to specific scholarship opportunities. Think of the General Application as setting up a Student Profile. Submitting a General Application does not mean that an applicant has applied for any scholarships.
Orner-Cook Scholarship
Eligibility: Graduating seniors of an Oklahoma High School. A cumulative GPA ≥ 3.25 Preference may be given for study in languages, international business/economics, petroleum/geology, history, psychology or sociology.
Financial need is considered.
Funds may be used for educational related expenses such as tuition, fees and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in Oklahoma. Payments are made directly to the school.
The Orner-Cook Scholarship is an endowed scholarship fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation that was established by Robert and Carolyn Cook Orner.

After completing the General Application/Student Profile, applicants must submit the Supplemental Questions (below) to complete the application: 1. Please demonstrate your capacity for leadership by describing one extra-curricular activity you have participated in and explain how it has contributed to your goals. 2. Did you submit your household's 1040 or your FAFSA for the coming year when you completed the General Application? (NOTE: If you answered "no", please know that financial need may be considered for this scholarship, and to be eligible for this scholarship you need to return to the General Application/Student Profile and attach a 1040 or FAFSA.)

JHS students are invited to Rogers State University’s second annual Portfolio Day. Portfolio Day is for high school students interested in a Fine Arts degree. This event will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 9:00-Noon

JHS Seniors: The Oklahoma Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Club joins the United States JCI organization in presenting scholarships to selected high school seniors. Below you will find a link to the application forms and information. This is a $1000 award. These scholarships will be presented in the late spring of 2020.
The application should be completed in its entirety and returned to me postmarked on or before January 24, 2020. Each application will be screened based on appearance, neatness, content, scholastic abilities, extracurricular activities, financial need, and correctly following the directions.
The top two (2) applications from Oklahoma will be submitted for national judging. We are very proud that we've presented fifteen national scholarships to Oklahoma students since 2001.

JHS Seniors: The Jones High School Scholarship is open for application. This Scholarship is handled through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.
Jones High School Scholarship
Eligibility:
Must have completed their junior and senior years at Jones High School, and be a graduating senior from Jones High School.
A GPA ≥ 3.0 and ACT ≥ 19.
Demonstrate participation in at least one extracurricular activity at the high school or in the community.
Financial need is considered.
Funds may be used for educational related expenses such as tuition, fees and books at any academically accredited two-year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in the United States. Payments are made directly to the school. No more than six credit hours may be completed online each semester.
The Jones High School Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by the citizens of Jones to encourage high school graduates to pursue higher education. This is an endowed scholarship fund of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation administered in conjunction with the faculty and administration of Jones High School.

Juniors: Jones High School is part of the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network through the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Due to this membership Jones Students are eligible to apply for OCCF Scholarships. The OCCF has the New Opportunities Scholars Scholarship. This is a $2000 Scholarship for Juniors who will be first generation college students!

I wanted to reach out regarding important scholarship deadlines, including October 15 for scholarship competition consideration. Students must apply for admission by October 15 to compete for any of the large scholarships through the upcoming competitions. Students may start the process at wichita.edu/apply.

• Scholarship Competitions – there are too many too list in this email, but I’ve attached a PDF of the Scholarship brochure which seniors in our system received in the mail. Students must apply for admission by October 15th and apply for most of the scholarships by November 1. JHS seniors of Hispanic Heritage: Mcdonald’s National HACER scholarship is now open! Eligibility Requirements are:
You’re a high school senior
You’re a legal U.S. resident
You’re younger than 21 years old
You carry a minimum 3.0 GPA

Seniors on Ok Promise: OU has a program called Crimson Commitment! Your OK Promise covers tuition and Crimson Commitment will cover fees up to $8000!! To qualify for Crimson Commitment incoming students must fully qualify for OK Promise; Apply to OU by Feb 1; Be admitted to OU; Complete FAFSA by March 1; Enroll as a full time student each semester.
