Friends of Kim Jones Shelton Scholarship
Eligibility:
• A graduating senior of a central Oklahoma high school with a GPA ≥ 3.5.
• Must have financial need relating to a disability or challenging circumstance of the applicant or the applicant’s parent.
• Preference is given to black female students.
Funds may be used for educational related expenses such as tuition, fees, and books at any academically accredited two- year, four-year or vocational technical nonprofit institution in the United States. Payments are made directly to the school.
The Friends of Kim Jones-Shelton scholarship was established by friends and family in 1999 to honor Kim’s service to the community.

After completing the General Application/Student Profile, applicants must submit the Supplemental Questions (below) to complete the application:
1. The Friends of Kim Jones-Shelton Scholarship fund was established to honor a woman who was very influential in the lives of her friends and family. Please write a reflection paper about friendship. (Please limit to 500 words.)
2. The scholarship selection committee may exercise a preference for an applicant who has demonstrated resilience in coping with a disability. If you have a disability, please describe how the disability has impacted your achievements. Please provide documentation of your disability.
3. The scholarship selection committee may exercise a preference for an applicant who was reared in a single parent home. If you have been reared in a single parent household, please describe how this experience has impacted your achievements.
4. Did you submit your household's 1040 or your FAFSA for the coming year when you completed the General Application? (NOTE: If you answered "no", please know that financial need may be considered for this scholarship, and to be eligible for this scholarship you need to return to the General Application/Student Profile and attach a 1040 or FAFSA.)

There has been some time changes for the games in Little Axe on Friday, January 17 due to Little Axe having Homecoming and not having enough girls for a JV girls Games. Changes are below.
There will not be a JV girls game
JV boys will begin at 4:45
Due to Homecoming, the Varsity boys will play at 6:30
Varsity girls will follow.
Juniors please pay your dues ASAP! Majority of you owe $70 for your freshman, sophomore, and junior class dues. See Mrs. Neal or Coach Davenport for questions.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has a scholarship for Juniors. Jones High School is guaranteed to get one of these scholarships. Please have any junior, whose parents did not go to college come see Mr. Moses for the New Opportunity Scholarship. This is one of the easiest scholarship and applications that a student will complete. It is $2000.00
Rose State College is hosting its 4th Annual Black Male Summit 2020: 50 years of Rising with Rose State.
This summit came about 4 years ago thanks to the vision of a former RSC student. They welcome high school aged students. JHS STUDENTS WANTING TO TAKE FEBRUARY ACT: Today, January 10, is registration deadline for February ACT. Register at www.actstudent.org
Seniors: Seven Semester transcripts will be ready on Friday, January 10. Please make sure you let Mr. Moses know which colleges he needs to send your seven semester transcript.
JHS Parents: First semester report cards will be given to students Friday, January 10 during 6th hour to bring home. If a student is in pm tech or concurrent college class at that time, they can come by office and pick up report card on Friday.

JHS Seniors: THE Oklahoma School Insurance group is awarding 12 scholarships ranging from $1000 to $2000.

Commander Family Scholarship
Eligibility:
• The Commander Family Scholarship can only be used by students who are enrolled in full-time study at an academically accredited institution in the state of Oklahoma.
• Graduating seniors from high schools that participate in the Central Oklahoma Guidance Counselor Network
• GPA 3.0-3.79 unweighted
• Demonstrate leadership and participation in school activities, and demonstrate a desire to work.
The Commander Family Scholarship was established in 2001 in memory of A.C. (Gus) Commander by his wife Ruth and son Ed. The Commander Family Scholarship is funded through the Commander Family Fund endowment.
Award: $2,500.00 Deadline: 3/1/2020

1. Describe your work experience and how it has influenced your career aspirations. (Please limit to 200 words.)

Camping Carnival Scholarship
Whether your family enjoys a relaxing weekend trip or you prefer to back country camp in the wilderness, camping is always an adventure. Any trip requires a certain level of planning and knowledge of health and safety precautions. That’s why Camping Carnival is offering a $500 scholarship to a student who submits an original essay on “52 Clever Camping Tricks That Are Actually Useful For Everyone.” Your essay must be written in a Google Doc and should be accompanied with pictures you’ve taken. High school seniors and college students may apply.

Point Foundation Scholarship Fund
The Point Foundation empowers members of the LGBTQ+ community to achieve their full academic and leadership potential. Despite the obstacles that are put before them, students can make a significant impact on society and the Point Foundation wants to ensure that they have every opportunity to do so. Finalists will be asked to attend in-person interviews in Los Angeles. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a proven track record of leadership and community involvement, strong academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

National Ag Day Essay Contest
The Agriculture Council of America is sponsoring the 2020 Ag Day Essay Contest. The objective is to celebrate agriculture and to help consumers better understand farmers and produce companies. Applicants can submit either a written essay or a video essay on the topic: “Food Brings Everyone to the Table.” Some trends that students can discuss in their essay include but are not limited to:
Increased global population
Increase of high plant-based protein diets
Shortfall of agriculture students
