Students interested in Acting and WIchita State University: Wichita State University's Bachelor of Applied Arts in Acting for Digital Arts I am writing to introduce you and your students to Wichita State University’s Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Acting for Digital Arts. This is a new degree concentration in WSU’s BAA Digital Arts program. The other degrees in the School of Digital Arts are: Audio Production, Collaborative Design, Animation, Video Game Design, and Filmmaking. Performance in the twenty-first century has been impacted by advances in what is termed the “digital arts.” Actors are needed for film work, providing motion capture performance for animation and video game design, voice work in audio productions, including audiobooks, podcasts, and voicing animated characters, as well as innovative technologies, such as virtual reality and augmented reality. The BAA in Acting for Digital Arts is a new degree program that focuses on performance and acting required for the digital arts. There are more opportunities available to actors than ever before and this new degree provides education, experience, and opportunities for students wishing to engage in performance of the twenty-first century. Classes range from acting in digital mediums, including film, audio, and animation, as well as basic stunt work and auditioning. Practical “hands on” projects such as short films, audio performance, and animated voice work are a part of the student’s experience in the Acting for Digital Arts program. Ultimately, the goal of the program is to prepare students to work in the entertainment industry as a performer – no matter the medium. At Wichita State University, our college experience combines tradition, innovation, and the benefits of our location in Kansas' largest city – with more opportunities, resources, and connections. We put it all together in a brand new, state-of-the-art facility, Shocker Studios, which is designed to maximize collaboration and creative collisions between students, faculty, and industry professionals. Shocker Studios 35,000 square foot facilities houses two audio recording studios, a film studio, a surround-sound editing facility, and several state-of-the-art classrooms to facilitate the learning of knowledge, skills, and techniques that go along with these degrees. The foundation of our program is its integration of practical experiences and course work. The students engage in practical projects that will prepare them for work in their chosen field. Aside from our credentials, it is important to know that we offer a program that is exciting, challenging, and that will benefit our students. Please feel free to call us to schedule an interview and a tour of our facilities. https://www.wichita.edu/academics/fine_arts/digital_arts/index.php
