Jones Public Schools appreciates the work of the Oklahoma legislature this week. They were able to work together to jumpstart the process of restoring education funding after a decade of neglect. Their job is far from complete, but this is a significant first step forward. We also recognize the motivation for this effort was the result of our teachers. It was their voice and unity that forced all involved to reach a deal.
It has been a week full of decisions and changes followed by more decisions and changes. We will be using Monday, April 2 as a day to celebrate the Easter holiday and allow our teachers to visit the Capitol, so they can remind our legislators that we will be back with our public support to make sure they continue the work of restoring education funding.
Jones Public Schools will be closed for Easter on Monday, April 2. All buildings will be closed and there will be no services (including meals) available. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, April 3. We will keep you informed of other changes to the calendar if it becomes necessary.
